LG CD

Cool Down Mode

Low severityExpert Guide

What Your Machine Is Actually Telling You

CD stands for Cool Down (or Cooling/Drying complete). This is a normal status indicator on LG washer-dryer combo models, NOT an error code.

What's happening: After the heated drying phase, the machine runs cool air through the drum to bring clothes down to a safe temperature before you open the door. This prevents:
- Burns from hot clothes.
- Steam blast when door opens.
- Wrinkling from sudden temperature change.

Duration: Cool-down typically takes 5-15 minutes.

This only appears on LG washer-dryer combo units — not standalone washers.

What You're Probably Seeing Right Now

  • CD on display — machine still tumbling slowly.
  • You can feel warm air if you put hand near vent.
  • Door is still locked.
  • Timer shows 0:00 but CD is displayed.

1. CD is normal — just wait.

If CD Persists Over 30 Minutes

If cool-down is taking too long:
1. Check that the room isn't excessively hot.
2. Ensure the condenser vent area isn't blocked.
3. Clean the lint filter.
4. If still stuck: press Pause/Cancel.
3

Skip Cool-Down (If Needed)

If you need clothes immediately:

2. Wait for door to unlock (1-2 minutes).
3. **Caution:** Clothes may be hot.
4. Use oven mitts if necessary.
