What Your Machine Is Actually Telling You

F20 means the CCU commanded a fill but no water level rise was detected. Identical to the LF code on newer Maytag models — same problem, different name.

Common causes:
1. Water taps closed (30%).
2. Inlet filter screens clogged (25%).
3. Kinked hoses (10%).
4. Low water pressure (10%).
5. Inlet valve failure (10%).
6. Pressure sensor (10%).
7. CCU (5%).

What You're Probably Seeing Right Now

  • Drum is empty.
  • F20 right after pressing Start.
  • Valve clicking but no water.
  • No clicking — valve not powering.

DIY Fix — From Easiest to Hardest

Check Taps (30 seconds — Fixes 30%)

1. Both hot and cold fully open.

Clean Inlet Screens (10 minutes — Fixes 25%)

1. Turn off taps.
2. Unscrew hoses.
3. Pull out mesh screens.
4. Rinse.
5. Reinstall.

**Clean every 6 months.**

Check Hoses (2 minutes)

1. Straighten kinks.
2. Replace if cracked ($15-30).

Test Inlet Valve (10 minutes)

1. Unplug.
2. Measure solenoid: 800-1500Ω.
3. OL = dead. Replace: $25-60.
