Maytag LF

Long Fill

Low severityExpert Guide

What Your Machine Is Actually Telling You

LF (Long Fill) means the CCU commanded a fill but the water level didn't rise fast enough. After 8 minutes of trying, the machine gives up and shows LF.

LF vs F20 (Whirlpool): Same concept, different naming.

Common causes:
1. Water taps closed (30%).
2. Inlet filter screens clogged (25%).
3. Kinked hoses (10%).
4. Low water pressure (10%).
5. Inlet valve failure (10%).
6. Pressure sensor (10%).
7. CCU (5%).

What You're Probably Seeing Right Now

  • Drum is empty or barely filling.
  • LF right after pressing Start.
  • Valve clicking but no water.
  • No clicking — valve not powering.

DIY Fix — From Easiest to Hardest

1

Check Water Taps (30 seconds — Fixes 30%)

1. Both hot and cold fully open.
2. Counterclockwise = open.
2

Clean Inlet Filter Screens (10 minutes — Fixes 25%)

1. Turn off taps.
2. Unscrew hoses from washer.
3. Pull out mesh screens.
4. Rinse under water.
5. Reinstall.

**Clean every 6 months.**
3

Check Hoses for Kinks (2 minutes)

1. Pull machine out.
2. Straighten any crimps.
3. Replace if cracked ($15-30).
4

Test Water Pressure (2 minutes)

1. Disconnect hose from washer into bucket.
2. Open tap.
3. Strong flow = adequate.
4. Trickle = supply issue.
5

Test Inlet Valve (10 minutes)

1. Unplug.
2. Access valve.
3. Measure solenoid: 800-1500Ω = good.
4. OL = dead. Replace: $25-60.
