Downloading Software Update

What Your Machine Is Actually Telling You
dn is NOT an error code — it's a status indicator meaning "downloading." Your Samsung washer (if Wi-Fi enabled via SmartThings) is receiving a firmware update.
What happens during update:
1. The update downloads via Wi-Fi.
2. The machine installs the new firmware.
3. It restarts automatically.
4. dn disappears and normal operation resumes.
How long does it take: Typically 5-15 minutes depending on update size and Wi-Fi speed.
Why Samsung pushes updates: To fix bugs, improve cycle algorithms, add new wash programs, or patch security vulnerabilities on smart models.
Important: Do NOT unplug or interrupt the machine during a firmware update — this can corrupt the software and brick the control board.
